How do I know if a production is appropriate for children?

Much of our programming is accessible to children aged 12 and up, and some productions may be appropriate for younger children. However, every child is different and parents know their children best. If you have questions about suitability, please call our Box Office at 905-885-1071 or check the audience advisory information provided on our website for each production. We strongly recommend that minors be seated next to their parents/guardians.

Can I take pictures or videos at the performance?

Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited during the performance. We ask that all guests turn their devices off completely to avoid distraction of the artists on stage as well as their fellow audience members.

Are there any theatre etiquette guidelines to remember?

At the Capitol, you are in the same room as the performers–they can see and hear you just as you can see and hear them. In order for everyone to have the best experience, we ask that our guests remain seated throughout the performance, please hold their comments until intermission or after the show, avoid crinkly candy wrappers, try not to sing along, and turn off all mobile devices both before the show and after intermission (before Act 2!).

Is there a dress code?

We do not have a dress code at the Capitol, though some of our guests do like to dress up a bit! Everyone is welcome no matter what they wear. Regardless of your choice of attire, please remember that our theatre is air-conditioned in the summer months, so you may wish to bring along a sweater. For the comfort and safety of others with allergies, we ask that you avoid using scented products as much as possible.

What happens if I’m late or I need to leave the show for some reason?

If you are late for a performance, or have to leave for any reason, our volunteer ushers will do their best to find you a seat during an appropriate break. Please note that they may seat you in a different seat to best accommodate the overall experience of our guests.

What accessibility assistive services are offered at the theatre?

Our facility is entirely accessible, and we offer assistive hearing devices for our guests when required – full details are available on the Accessibility page. Please speak to a box office representative about your needs when booking.
