Speaker Event for International Women’s Day

International Women's Day - March 8 - is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The Chamber in partnership with Capitol Theatre Port Hope is inviting the entire community to understand, value and seek out the inclusion of women and girls and #InspireInclusion to encourage belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

MEET THE SPEAKERS:

Kate Ryan has a love for people and the gift of gab. She's also got a passion for promoting inclusion, and ensuring it's the lens that all people see through. As the Manager of Employer Brand Communications and DEIB at lPassword, Kate believes that inspiring inclusion isn't just the role of the person who has it in their job title, but a role t hat anyone can play. No matter how big or small, the actions we take today help us foster a better culture of inclusion tomorrow.

Leslie Boyd is a freelance writer, curator and consultant in the field of Inuit art. She owned the Inuit Fine Art gallery in Port Hope from 2018 - 2022. She is also an ICF certified Career, Leadership and Life
Coach.

Maria Papaioannoy has dedicated the past 10 years of her life to advocacy. Her most recent achievement is the impact she had by successfully changing policies at our local hospital, highlighting the significance of dignity in women's healthcare. She will share what she has learned and how each of us has the power to change.

Olena Hankivsky, PhD is an educator, entrepreneur, mother, daughter, partner and caregiver, as well as the Mayor of Port Hope and Deputy Warden of Northumberland County. She is a Professor at the School of Public Policy, Simon Fraser University and has 25+ years of experience working across academic, government, NGO and international organizations including the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
