CAPITOL THEATRE 90th ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND

To celebrate Capitol Theatre’s 90 years we have invited community members and artists to join us to celebrate the occasion. Because we are just completing our expansion, and with current COVID-19 safety protocols, we are not quite ready to invite guests into our beautiful theatre and facility at this time. We are, however, excited to be able to offer a series of events to celebrate our community outside of the Capitol Theatre doors at a safe and social distance.

Starting Friday evening, we will offer nine 10-minute special performances, for a total of 90 minutes, to celebrate the theatre’s 90 years — staged in a unique and engaging way.  The performers, a talented range of singers, writers, musical theatre performers, and musicians, will perform to the street from the windows of the second floor Sculthorpe Theatre.

To kick off the celebrations on Saturday, members of the Antique & Classic Car Club of Canada, decked out in accessories provided by Northumberland Players Costume House, will parade their beautiful classic cars representing each decade from 1930 to the present day through downtown Port Hope and park along Queen Street. We will follow this up with Jennifer’s Jazz It Up dancers, more performances from the Juliet windows of our second floor, and a presentation from some special guests scheduled at 1 pm to officially mark the start of the Capitol Theatre’s 10th decade.
