The Silver Jubilee  |  25 Years of Lights & Trees

The Festival of Lights and Trees illuminates Northumberland County’s holiday spirit like nothing else. This year we celebrate an exciting milestone: our 25th anniversary! Since its inception in 1997, this fundraising initiative has been a community favourite, creating memories and becoming a tradition for guests of all ages. We are proud to celebrate this landmark anniversary alongside our dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors. We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the continued support throughout the years—here’s to another 25 years!

Tuesday November 16th to Thursday December 16th, 2021

Once again, to keep our visitors safe, we will be creating a socially distanced tree viewing experience on-site AND offering a virtual slideshow component that allows guests the ability to enjoy Capitol Christmas and enter the raffle from the comfort of their own home!

We are becoming Carbon Neutral!

This year, in a concerted effort to become part of the fight against climate change, Capitol Christmas will be a carbon neutral event! What does this mean? The Capitol has partnered with Carbonzero, a North American industry leader in greenhouse gas measurement, reduction, and offsetting solutions to calculate the carbon footprint of the Festival of Lights and Trees. Once the carbon footprint of the event is known, the emissions will be mitigated with the use of carbon offsets, funding local greenhouse gas avoidance and reduction projects. A portion of every sponsorship will go towards these offsets and directly contribute to having a carbon neutral event. This represents the first step of many in our greener future.

* All guests entering the Capitol Theatre must provide proof of full vaccination, accompanied by a personal ID.

* All guests will be required to wear masks, except when sitting in designated areas, eating or drinking.

* All guests are expected to have reviewed and understood the Capitol Theatre COVID-19 Safety Policy.

Capitol Christmas is made possible through very generous sponsorships by local businesses and individuals in our community.
We would like to express our sincerest appreciation for the continued support.
