ABOUT MIKE FORRESTER
Mike relocated from Vancouver, following several years as the Executive Director of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, where he oversaw tremendous growth, incorporated a Foundation to support the organization, and prepared the company for the next ten years of operation.
His background in arts management also includes 9 years at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, most recently as Executive Vice President. Mike began life at the TSO as VP Marketing and went on to grow departments over the years including development, government relations, and corporate partnerships.
Mike was also VP Corporate and Consumer Relations, Luminato Festival including marketing, development and government relations. Mike also had two stints marketing and producing Broadway shows in Toronto, New York, and other North-American major markets, working for Livent in the 1990s in the company’s heyday,
There, he worked on Phantom of the Opera and Showboat before returning to Broadway at Dancap as Senior VP/Producer, working on shows including Jersey Boys and South Pacific.
Before his work in theatre, Mike started a ten-year stretch in classical music radio management in both Cobourg and Toronto (living in Cobourg for several years) and was involved in the acquisition of the 96.3 frequency to add to the 103.1 radio channel for what is now CFMZ-FM.
Following his education in music performance at Humber College and the Royal Conservatory of Music, the beginning of his life in the arts was as a professional horn player for ten years.
