New Improvements

In its efforts to preserve the past, the Foundation has not neglected to improve the facility for present-day use. The floor of the auditorium has been raked in order to provide better sight lines, and an orchestra pit has been constructed that can accommodate an orchestra of up to 40 people. An extension was also added to the front of the stage to increase the performance area.

New dressing rooms, including a green-room area, were added onto the back of the theatre.

Two new projectors have been purchased by the Foundation, which not only improve the sound quality of the films, but also enable the Capitol to show both 35mm and 16mm films. The Capitol Theatre boasts the largest cinema screen in Northumberland County!

Technical Details

• the theatre seats 381 patrons, plus 6 wheelchair-accessible areas
• the stage is 22 feet by 40 feet wide
• the theatre is air-conditioned, barrier free, infrared hearing system
